Worse is pulling an all-nighter for an exam that has zero relevance to your major/career field. Yeah, my Eastern religions class will come in real handy when building and optimizing factories. I do like paying extra for the class, though, thanks for asking. Have a P1 I found while procrastinating to offset my bitching.

Some day you might deal with workers in some of those religions. I doubt they conveniently include that as a subheading though.

They didn't mention that in the syllabus, no. Truth be told I do find the class interesting, I just wish I had spent more time pay attention instead of doing statics homework in the back row.

Just wait until you have to pull an all nighter because your co-workers are incompetent. Enjoy college man you'll miss it later.

I was just in a class discussion where everybody was griping about taking classes that are irrelevant to our majors.

And right now I know I'll be up until 2 or 3AM cramming for an online quiz for a class I don't care about.

True, at least I don't have a job to lose or anything. Now it's just my own incompetence I'm dealing with...

Sounds about right, it's around 4am in central Indiana but the last few nights it's been about, yeah, two or three. At least I'm used to sleep deprivation at this point.

thats how most of my non-major classes went. One of my professors thought we all had massive apartments freshman year with pleantly of room for drafting tables and model building. He was shocked to hear we were using our beds as a place to put our drafting tables and lived in shoebox dorms.

What the hell kind of college did he go to? I swear, professors can be some of the most out-of-touch people on campus, especially the older ones. I had a computer graphics class where we had to go to a professor's office hours (seriously?) to get this code to access the CAD software required for the class , but he would always tell people who stopped by to come back another time because "it was the first project so it's really easy and shouldn't take you a long time to do". He finally started giving them out like a week before the project was due and then threw a shit-fit and called out the class because (unsurprisingly) not a single person turned in a completed project because we had almost zero experience with said software he was withholding.

He got even more pissed off when we suggested that the reason was he didn't give us the freaking codes, you jackass, how are we supposed to learn how to use something if we don't have access to it . God, it was two years ago and I'm still bitter, sorry for the rant. You always think that educators at this level would be the best of the best and I have yet to see anything remotely near that, even at one of the supposed top engineering schools in the country.

um we were threatened to be arrested by campus police for being in a building we were told we had all hours access to. we were all sitting there doing homework. beat that

Think you win with that one. How does that even work, like if the building's unlocked and no one tells you guys you can't go in? Did someone call them or were they just hassling you?

we had cards that would swipe at the door to unlock it. i think the cop was just on a regular patrol and saw us in there and needed to swing his nuts around.

They do like to do that from time to time, wonder if the job turns them into power-tripping assholes or if the job attracts people like that. I've never had a problem with regular police but as a dude who looks like a massive stoner I've been asked by the campus rent-a-cops if they don't mind searching my bag when walking home from the library late at night. Actually, I do mind, and there isn't a damn thing they can do except watch my skinny ass walk on home. Maybe they're just bored, I dunno...

its probably a combination of all that. the funny thing is if they went to the train station at the end of the street they could probably do some real police work like preventing someone from getting robbed stabbed or shot which was like a daily occurrence

We don't have it that bad at Purdue but the resources could definitely be used elsewhere. Where do you go that's in an area like that?

I was at Northeastern. The campus was in between a really nice area and an area well, that you could very easily get robbed stabbed or shot. It was really like don;t cross the train tracks or your taking your life into your own hands.

Weird how a lot of colleges are like that. Purdue's across the river from an average small Midwestern town and surrounded by farmland so we don't get violent crime or anything, mostly just meth busts and traffic violations. Life's slow off campus.
